Netvleish Vernon Potjie Cookoff – November 9, 2024
Get ready for an unforgettable day of delicious food and great company at the Netvleish Vernon Potjie Cookoff! Hosted by Liza Hausberger, Jeffrey Hausberger, and the crew, this event brings the best of South African cooking to Vernon, BC.
Join us on Saturday, November 9th at 2715 Francis St, Vernon, BC for a day of potjie fun. The event kicks off at 11 AM when the pots go on the fire, and the excitement builds until 5 PM, when the tasting and judging begin.
There are only 25 spots available for pots this year, so if you want to enter, be sure to send a private message to the organizers through the group. There’s a $25 donation to help cover expenses like porta-loos and wood for the fire. Even if you’re not entering a pot, you’re welcome to come along and taste the incredible creations (by donation) and enjoy the community spirit!
This is an outdoor event, so dress warmly and be prepared for whatever weather comes our way. Make sure to bring your own chairs and BYOB. There’s plenty of space for the kids to run around, but please remember to keep an eye on them, especially near the fires. Unfortunately, pets aren’t allowed at the event, so leave your furry friends at home.
We’re making a weekend of it and staying over in Vernon on Friday and Saturday night. It’s sure to be a weekend full of good food, laughter, and plenty of fun—hope to see you there!
